Spierings’ Effective Container Loading, with Solutions from Stertil

Spierings Smart Logistics Dock Houses for direct loading and unloading of containers from ship to warehouse

Spierings Smart Logistics called on the expertise of Stertil Dock Products to enable direct loading and unloading of containers from ship to warehouse.

Spierings Smart Logistics have constructed a new warehouse at the Smart Hub area in Den Bosch, in the Netherlands directly adjacent to the quay of the container terminal to ensure a more cost effective and sustainable supply chain.

Multimodal Transport Hub

Smart Hub is the result of a partnership between Spierings Smart Logistics and eight companies. It is situated in a unique location, directly on the water side, easily accessible from the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp, as well as the two major Dutch airports of Schiphol and Eindhoven.

Smart Hub can be compared with an oversized ultramodern post office: a reliable and highly efficient location for loading and unloading sea containers, storage of stock, repackaging products, dealing with customs formalities or dispatching urgent shipments. Everything customers could ever need in terms of logistics and warehousing is available at a single location, in close proximity to the BCTN container terminal (Inland Container Terminal Operator), the Customs Office and DHL, GLS and PostNL service points.

Container Dock Houses

Dock Houses with “sleeves” that slide out from the dock house, around the container.

The new Stertil Dock Products dock houses are already in operation and the first containers have been loaded from and unloaded in Spiering’s new warehouse.
Containers are displaced from the ship with a reach stacker and placed in front of the loading bay dock houses. Transfer times from ship to warehouse are minimal and within a couple of minutes the loading or unloading can take place.

Complete Safety and Efficiency

The Dock Houses works thus, the “sleeves” slide out from the dock house, around the container. Then the inflatable shelter cushions fill with air at the sides and top sealing off the opening, preventing temperature fluctuations, dust, dirt, insects or anything else from entering either the container or the warehouse, and the telescopic dock leveller is brought to the correct position flush with the container bed.floor. This leveller is ideal for end-loads which are difficult to reach at the back of the container and whereby the most damage can be caused to the goods. Only then can the warehouse door be opened and the loading and unloading process can begin.

At Stertil Dock Products these types of specialised and high quality docking solutions are what we have been helping the distribution industry with for a very long time. We can develop a solution for all requirements and in any building situation.

Spiering’s requirement was based on the most efficient and safe possible way of loading and unloading goods direct from ship to warehouse. The Stertil dock houses with sleeves provide a fast and effective way of bridging the gap between the docked container and the warehouse opening.
The Stertil Dock Products inflatable WI Shelter ensures a complete seal around the container as the side and top cushions fill with air.

The premium quality telescopic X-Series lip leveller mounted in a frame at Spierings is very versatile with a variety of lip lengths and dynamic capacities.
Stertil Dock ProductsErgonomic hinged lip P-Series leveller was also installed for reducing physical impact for loading bay employees. This hinged lip leveller due to its unique construction forms a smooth ride over the leveller helping to keep employees safe and healthy by reducing industrial injuries caused by impact.
